Tick Tock, Get Out the Blocks!

Red Village is next to Blue Village

The 'burbs!
Do you live on this street?
You can still see the skyscrapers from the burbs.
I liked the lil blue village. I need more blue blocks!

When was the last time you played with some toys? Better yet, toys that don't require batteries, that don't need to be charged or need a decent signal to work?  Recently I was doing some lesson planning and brought out the building blocks for my classroom and well....I just started playing.  Before I knew it, I had built an entire village! It was incredibly engaging. The world tuned out. I was five again. Just with bigger fingers and better dexterity. haha. But my mind was there. I had no worries on my mind. I didn't care what I looked like at the moment, I didn't care about the bills on the counter, the phone that rang, buzzed and beeped. And those dishes! Oh the dishes! I didn't have to do those, for after all, I was FIVE YEARS OLD AGAIN! All that was on my mind was finding all the blue blocks to make a blue village.  Troubling, because I didn't have enough blue blocks. I had to go with red. Red was good. ooooh but then there's yellow, too. Hmmm....It's my little red roof village.  The people that live on the street are super nice and their kids are always outside playing ball in the street, or up in that lil tree house in the great big tree in their backyard. Don't you see it? It's right there.....

After hours (hours? well...I actually have no idea how long it was, it probably was only 20 minutes. But that 20min was funfilled!) of playing, building, creating, and pretending, I was done. I stood up and looked at my village. It was great! Yes, I'm saying it....I'm praising my own work! Why not.  We as adults try so hard to not boast about our work.  But then in doing that, after awhile, you tend to truly believe that your work isn't that great. And surprise, you don't do anymore work. But DON'T LISTEN TO THAT VOICE! YOUR WORK IS GREAT! Why? Because you enjoyed creating it, that's why!  So here I was standing and staring at my marvelous lil creation. And what did mish do?  (got out my camera - of course)

So I urge you to take this challenge.  Go find some toys that don't require signals, batteries or gadgets and let yourself play. Build. Create. Imagine.  Listen to that lil child inside you.  That child isn't worried or stressed.  He/she wants to play! Run! Relax! and of course, giggle! Listen to the sounds of the blocks, Legos, sticks, rocks, whatever it is you found and just imagine.

Enjoy!

Summer Days Summer Haze

Summer days, oh summer days
You fill me with a tiny craze.
Tiny? Yes. But a craze indeed.
Craze for shade, craze for breeze
Craze for feeling that freezing freeze!!

Haze of shelter
Haze of blue
Haze I feel to what you do.
When I sit and sweat to death.
I hate the haze upon my breath.

I make no sense.
I know you'll see
The giggles have halted
The mind is melted.
I sit in a stare of gooey cheese.

Summer days oh summer haze
I'll take you while I can.
But know in my heart
where it pitters and patters
I will go thump for my freezing cold matters!

Yes! Cold matters!
Save the COLD! Run! Run to your AC
And give it a hug.

Thank you and goodnight.

I need more btu's

I'm not getting enough sleep. Or any good sleep.  It's too hot in our room at night.  Stupid air conditioner just doesn't seem to reach our bedroom like it used to (sniff sniff!!) Tonight... I'm sleeping on the couch! hahaha Yea right, my bed is soooo comfy.  But it's too hot in there.  That's it, I'm moving my bed to my living room! Oh if only I could. Why is it that when I can sleep in and it doesn't matter when I awake that I cannot sleep.  But oh when those cold wonderfully cold cold nights come I'll be able to sleep sleep sleep but I'll have to get up up up for work work work. And way to early early early! But how I will love love love my job! OK,  I think I need to stop stop stop! hehehe

Things I've Seen Today

  1. The very back of my art room.
  2. By uncovering it, that's how. Phew. There's a lot of stuff in there.
  3. But why?
  4. Well, it's an art room, that's why.
  5. Doesn't your art room have a lot of stuff in it.
  6. Yes...
  7. To find something I lost. I was frantic.
  8. In doing so I found something ELSE I lost that I stopped looking for! BONUS.
  9. I only spent an hour looking for the lost item (the first lost item I mentioned).
  10. Guess where it was?
  11. In the first place I thought to look.........but of course I didn't look there til WELL into the search!
  12. You mean you actually kept looking after you found it?
  13. No, that's just silly.
  14. Yes, clearly.
  15. And just what were you looking for?
  16. A card, of course.
  17. Yes, of course
  18. Back to things I've seen today...

Tiny Couch, Many People, One Mish

One tiny lil couch, so many ideas do I see when I look at it. What will this lil couch cause me to say today, I wonder? I have no idea. (hmm...it is kinda dirty, and old). I like to write(or should I say laugh); there's this little child inside me that wants me to write (giggle) - so I must fulfill her needs, right? Right. I like that I'm listening to a child! I am an artist. But I haven't created anything lately. Aren't artists supposed to create something? DO something? So, I had to do something. So, I shall sit on this lil couch in the photo above and unload what goes on between my ears! haha. What will I write about, we shall all find out I guess. I have this grand vision - writing of my dreams, visions, ideas and seeing them implemented. How cool would that be. I'm sure it seems selfishly silly to title my blog after me and write about me. (I think that's kinda the point, mish! oh! silly me!) But I'm on a path of discovery here, whether it's personal discovery, people discovery, place, (oh explorer mish!) or thing....time will tell. All about the journey right? Sounds so cliche, but really, is being cliche so bad? Really, is it? I sometimes find it comforting that I'm thinking something so many others have thought. And sometimes not. I originally wanted to blog in list form. I think I might. I just might. I could write of my daily adventures through the mind of a mish. I could write an entire book alone on the funny things my husband says or does on a daily basis (ask me about this later. just mention these two words - raccoon|shed - trust me). I think I'll start out with the basic elements of mish. Of mishdom. (hahahaha)What is a mish? Keep coming back and sooner or later it'll hit you - oh - that's a mish! (oh dear, I see many trips to this tiny couch!)

Ten Reasons to Start Blogging

  1. why not
  2. time to start something new
  3. ya never know
  4. you never know what?
  5. exactly my point
  6. I enjoy speaking in lists
  7. cuz it's fun
  8. I know you asked why, didn't you?
  9. I finally decided on my name for my blog
  10. so why not??
